The Logo Nobody Cared About

I see it all the time – small businesses that insist on brand advertising with their logo, as if the general public really cared or had any shift in mental energy because of viewing it.

Logos are great – and having a professionally designed one is 10x better than your cousin Jason’s napkin scrawl – but it’s not an advertisement… it’s not an offer… and it certainly won’t cause a person who’s never heard of a restaurant to say, “Hey, maybe I’ll try that place for lunch.”

Now, I suppose there could be the rare occasion when the logo is so outlandish that it may cause curiosity in a few individuals, but by and large, if you’re promoting your logo above your offer in any advertisement, you’re immediately doing yourself a major disservice.

Hi Nat, I totally agree with this, the only reason people would go for this wrong decision is when logo branding is overhyped. I believe logo has to be well designed, it is a visual element or a face for the company so to speak. But ultimately the real face people will see is the people and their products. If those two do not inspire confidence, even a well designed logo will not help.
