Concept Production Screenshots

Vessel of Wrath is a three-minute short animation that explores how Biblical-theological compatibilism parallels the animation process. It exhibits the unique relationship between a cartoonist and his drawings by illustrating unconnected, personal wills that are bound to the same actions. The study is also a beginning step to understanding the nature of man's enslaved will versus God's sovereign will as it's described in Scripture.

The concept portion of this website is divided into six chapters. The Abstract provides the framework and context of the project. Chapter One builds on the Abstract and introduces the doctrine of theological compatibilism. Chapter Two describes how compatibilist philosophy has been shown in cartoons since they began in the late 19th century. In Chapter Three I define how the concept served as a basis for the animated short and I introduce the production methods used. The Conclusion is a short reflection on the project, and the Appendix has Biblical examples that highlight compatibilism.

The production page describes my workflow more thoroughly and has screenshots for clarification. I've also chosen to list many of the preproduction items here (including sketches and storyboards). This area is still "in progress" and will be added to when I have time.

Under screenshots is a variety of production images, screen renders, and final frames.
